All I Want is a Place to Call My Own

I don't want the things that you want. It's not that we're even so different; I think that if we really tried, we could even sympathize with each other. I think I just find beauty and happiness in different places than you.

What do you really want to be in ten years? What's the first thought that comes to mind? Do you hope for your dream job? Do you want recognition for some good deed? Do you want to be able to afford the "finer things?" Why do you want these things first and foremost? What makes you think that above all else, these are the most important aspects in your life?

To be honest, I really wouldn't care about any of these things if I knew I could just have one thing.

All I want in this life is to be in love.

Where would someone expect to find more happiness than in their lover's arms? In possessions? In a career? In some legacy that you want the entire world to remember? Bullshit.

Love is the most powerful of all emotions. It grips you so tightly that there are days that you can't breathe without it overtaking you. You move differently. You act differently. You fucking SMILE differently. From what other part of your life do you expect a more positive change? I promise you, you won't find it somewhere else.

It's always been hard for me to stay committed to most things. Some days, I tell myself it would be really cool to just start a band and try to actually make it. Some days I think that I should start writing and only stop once I have a book worth reading. But nothing ever holds my attention for long. I just can't find the passion for most things in life. I can't find the strength to suffer through the setbacks, the bad days, the criticism. The only thing that is immune from this is love.

When you're in love, you don't fall in to a slump. You don't wake up some days and think to yourself, "maybe I should focus on something more important to me." There is nothing more important than love. Falling in love is the most important thing you could possibly do with your life. Other things might help you to survive from day to day, but there is no living without love, however stupid and cliché that is.
